NANAIMO, BC, September 1, 2010.  After serving the greater Nanaimo area for 26 years, Gary Ruffle, CA owner of Gary Ruffle Ltd, Chartered Accountants is starting the path towards retirement and improving his handicap. Gary has transferred the day to day responsibilities of running Gary Ruffle Ltd, Chartered Accountants to Douglas (Doug) Parkhurst, CA effective Sept 1st.

Gary has always focused upon meeting and exceeding his client’s needs. According to Gary, our practice is recognized for providing the highest levels of service to our clients. In looking for someone to succeed me at the office, I needed to find someone who understands what our practice is about. I have found that person in Doug Parkhurst.

Doug joined Gary Ruffle Ltd in November 2009 after spending nine years developing and running the CA School of Business (CASB). CASB is the award winning school that trains articling CA students across Western Canada. Doug has an extensive background in business having worked as a Chief Financial Officer, and as an owner of a family business. After nearly 20 years in public accounting, Doug was looking for a special place to work and has found it at Gary Ruffle Ltd.

“I didn’t want to join just any CA firm. I wanted to find an office that really focused upon providing the average business owner sound accounting, finance and tax advice. After my first meeting with Gary, I knew that I had found the right place.” says Doug Parkhurst, “In fact, I like the place so much, that we are even keeping the name!”

Even with this change, Gary is planning on staying actively involved with the firm. “I am very lucky that Gary wants to stay active in the practice.” Says Doug Parkhurst, “Gary has nearly 40 years of knowledge and experience and having that resource available to help our clients is a huge asset.”
